THE PEOPLE BEHIND YOUR PROGRAM.
One lead coach owns your program, but the whole team has your back. Here’s everyone.
HIRE A TEAM,
NOT A TRAINER.
One trainer knows one approach. A coaching team knows what to do when your situation changes: when you’re hurt, pregnant, training for a sport, or shifting from building strength to keeping it. Your lead coach coordinates across the team so you always have the right person for what’s in front of you.
THREE SPECIALTIES. ONE STANDARD.
Every coach carries a primary and a secondary speciality, so the roster overlaps on purpose. Find your situation below.
PERFORMANCE
For chasing a goal. Sport, competition, or getting stronger than you’ve ever been.
STEVE REYES
Combat Sports Conditioning · Hybrid Training · Time-Efficient Programming
Steve works with high performers who need their training to fit around a demanding career. Maybe you’re in finance or tech and your calendar owns you after 9am. Maybe you’ve got 45 minutes and want every one of them to count. Maybe you picked up BJJ or Muay Thai and you’re gassing out before the round ends.
Steve has been with Physical Culture since 2023. He builds programs around the minimum effective dose: the least training that still gets you real results, so none of your time is wasted. His background spans Olympic weightlifting, powerlifting, CrossFit, and Hyrox, and he trains BJJ and Muay Thai at Gregor Gracie BJJ. He knows what it takes to show up sharp on the mats and at the office.

TEV JOHNSON
Sport-Specific Training · Youth Athletic Development · Return-to-Sport Rehab
Tev works with athletes who want to get faster, more explosive, and harder to injure. Maybe you’re a soccer, basketball, or volleyball player chasing a college roster spot. Maybe you’ve been cleared by your PT but you’re not ready for game speed. Maybe you train hard and your first step still isn’t what it was.
Tev has been with Physical Culture since 2026. He spent six years coaching Division I, II, and III athletes at a sports performance facility in Ohio, prepping athletes for NFL Pro Days and coaching AAU sprinters to the Junior Olympics. He builds speed, power, and elasticity the way sport demands it: sprinting, cutting, jumping, landing.

SHY QUINTERO
Former Athletes · Beginner Performance · Strength Fundamentals
Shy works with former athletes and beginners ready to take strength training seriously. Maybe you played sports in high school or college and haven’t trained with purpose since. Maybe you’ve never touched a barbell and want to learn it right the first time. Maybe you play in a rec league and want to get stronger and stay healthy.
Shy has been with Physical Culture since 2024. She’s a competitive softball player who coaches beginners the way athletes train: fundamentals first, then progress. She makes the gym make sense, so you get stronger, move better, and stay consistent.

RESILIENCE
For coming back stronger. Injury, surgery, chronic conditions, or a body that needs rebuilding.
ABBY RIVAS, PT, DPT
Post-Surgery · Injury Rehab · Return to Strength
Abby works with people coming back from surgery or a lingering injury. Maybe you finished PT but you’re nowhere near where you were. Maybe you’ve been cleared to exercise and have no idea what’s actually safe. Maybe an old injury keeps deciding what you can and can’t do.
Abby has been with Physical Culture since 2022. She’s a Doctor of Physical Therapy and a competitive powerlifter who specializes in training people with complex medical histories. She bridges the gap between rehab and real training, so you don’t just recover, you get strong again.

MILES VITARELLI
Training Through Injury · Chronic Pain · Strength & Power
Miles works with people who are in pain but don’t want to stop training. Maybe an old injury flares up every few months. Maybe your back, knee, or shoulder has hurt for so long it feels normal. Maybe you’ve been told to rest, but rest hasn’t fixed it.
Miles has been with Physical Culture since 2025. He’s a lifelong baseball player and powerlifter who previously worked at a sports orthopedic clinic. He helps you train through it instead of around it, and works with physical therapists when you need more care.
B.S. Sports Management, Ithaca College · NASM Certified Personal Trainer
LONGEVITY
For staying capable. Strong, lean, and energized across decades, not just this year.
CHANTEL BERMEJO
Pregnancy & Postpartum · Pelvic Floor · Perimenopause & Menopause
Chantel works with women who want to stay strong through every stage of life. Maybe you’re pregnant or postpartum and aren’t sure how to train safely. Maybe you’re dealing with diastasis recti, PCOS, or pelvic floor issues, and most trainers don’t know what to do with that. Maybe perimenopause has changed how your body responds to training.
Chantel has been with Physical Culture since 2019 and spent five years working alongside physical therapists in a clinical setting. Her specialty is strength training across the female lifespan, from preconception through postmenopause. She builds a plan around where your body actually is, so you keep doing the things you love.

JOHN TRACEY
Body Composition · Metabolic Health · Nutrition Coaching
John works with people who want to build muscle, lose fat, and feel great as they age. Maybe your bloodwork came back a little off. Maybe the aches have started to feel permanent. Maybe you’re on a GLP-1 or TRT and nothing has changed in the mirror.
John has been with Physical Culture since 2021. He specializes in body composition and metabolic health, using your bloodwork, nutrition, and training to build a plan that fits your life. His approach to building muscle is simple: every working set has to be hard enough to give your body a reason to grow. He tracks the numbers so you know it’s working.

HARLEE TUNG
Body Composition · Pilates to Strength · Body Image & Confidence

Maybe you want to get lean and toned without feeling lost in the weight room. Maybe you’re chasing your next promotion and want to look and feel the part.
Harlee has been with Physical Culture since 2026. She pairs strength training with nutrition coaching to change your body composition, while keeping the mobility and movement you love. With a background in corporate fashion, she knows that how you feel in your body shapes how you show up at work and everywhere else.

BRIAN VELEZ
Brooklyn Native · Columbia Grad · Wall Street Alum
Brian is a Brooklyn native and lifelong athlete. He played competitive baseball at Xaverian High School and for The Bonnie Youth Club, has competed in CrossFit and Olympic weightlifting, and boxes today.
He began his career on Wall Street as a hedge fund trader and equity research analyst, where he watched his own health slip while he built someone else’s dream. In 2019, he left to build his own: the gym he couldn’t find for himself, one that treats training like the serious, lifelong practice it is, staffed by coaches who know what they’re doing and respect their clients’ intelligence.
His mission is to build the best coaching gym in Brooklyn: a home for the high performers who keep this city running, where they can take real ownership of their health and have the energy to go after everything else they want.
Physical Culture is built on three values:
Strong enough for whatever life demands.
A lifelong discipline,
not a quick fix.
Your body is a gift.
Honor it.
